Kolos treble keeps Muktis in race

Ahmed Kolo’s solo efforts with scoring a hat-trick kept Muktijoddha Sangsad Krira Chakra in the race to move into to the semifinals of the KFC Independence Cup Football Tournament when the outplayed Uttar Baridhara by 3-0 yesterday.
Held at the Bangabandhu National Stadium, favourites Muktijoddha, though had not full authority in the match but enjoyed better ball possession and also proper utilization of the chances they produced.
Muktijoddha brought their tally to nine points from four matches. But group favourites Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra and formidable Chittagong Abahani have earned full nine points from three matches each.
Ahmed Kolo Musa almost single handedly brought Muktijoddha in contention to fight for semifinal berth when his lone strike steered them to a solitary goal win in their opener against Brothers Union and scored both the goals of 2-1 victory in the previous match against Mohammedan, though referee counted one for him and another for own goal.
Muktijoddha, who looked to be a disciplined side from the beginning, developed match by mach and demonstrated organised games under former national color Abdul Qayum Sentu.
However, the All Reds had to wait only initial 15 minutes to open scoring and Ahmed Kolo Musa nodded a Towhidul Alam Towhid left side cross inside the danger area when the Nigerian slammed home from close range (1-0).
Kolo doubled the margin right on the half an hour mark and this time Kolo Musa was very sharp to send the ball into the top of the net with his toe reaching a back pass by defender Sentu Chandra to goalkeeper (2-0).
After taking 2-0 first half lead, Muktijoddha kept their momentum playing with attacking mood and extended the tally to 3-0 on 55th minute when Kolo Musa completed his hat-trick and this time after Towhid missing a Mobarok cross to shot into post, Musa got the ball in his possession and did not miss to mark the target.
Muktis could increase the margin but some of their good opportunities were squandered while Towhid and Kolo Musa himself  misfired two close range chances.
Baridhara, who conceded defeats in their all five matches including yesterday, did not handover the game, as despite conceding three goals, they had a fighting spirit as, they also went closer for three times to score goals.
